We just love Game Day season around here. I mean, what’s not to be excited about? Fabulous football games, an excuse to wear complimentary colors, tailgating, yelling, screaming, and cheering – these are some of our favorite things! We remember the days of sloppy game day T-Shirts that we were practically drowning in! Forget it – now we’re rocking short, cute, fabulous and extra colorful dresses that fit like a glove! Some of our favorite designers are Karlie, Judith March, Joy Joy, Hourglass Lilly and Shaye Blue! There’s everything from stunning retro fits, to casual layered tiered dresses that are comfortable all day and night! We’ve compiled a look below that we’re for sure rocking while rooting on our favorite team!  Below, the Judith March 543D3 in Navy is featured. We love the feminine lace detailing paired with the Navy color and tiered fabric! Super flattering and can be taken from day to night in a cinch! Would be perfect paired with cowgirl boots (below!) for a daytime outfit and then switch it up with nude sandal heels/wedges for night!

I know that I have a MAJOR problem with buying lipstick shades at the drugstore, only to get home and find out that they just don’t work for me. Such is life! Here is a cute and fun little tutorial by The Beauty Department again! They always have the most practical DIY’s! Gather up some old lipsticks and a few supplies: a small spatula or kitchen butter knife, a stovetop or flame of some type, a spoon, a mini plastic jar and of course, your lipcolor!

Next, all you have to do is take a few chunks off of an unwanted lipstick (or even wanted), and combine fun colors in your spoon that you think work together. Next, carefully put the spoon about 5 inches above the flame. The lip color will start melting within about 10 seconds, so keep an eye on it! Once it is in liquid form, mix it with your small spatula or butter knife. Then, carefully pour your lip color into the small jar (find these at craft or beauty supply stores!) WAH*LA! you have a fabulous color customized just for you!

Meet Maura! Just your typical Missouri high school student that made her senior year prom dress out of cardboard. Wait, what? Yes, CARDBOARD!!

The top of the dress is middle part of corrugated cardboard that was peeled apart. If you have ever looked at a cardboard box it is 3 layers, an outer shell on each side with a wavy part in the middle. The wavy part is the top! Maura then spray painted the pieces and painted glitter on top. Everything is glued together with wood glue and hot glue. And no prom dress would be complete without a corset back!

The bottom of the dress proved to be the challenge on this project as it was made of paper bags, and then spray painted, with a zipper in the back.

We know how important accessories can be at Prom! There are a lot of essentials that we need to keep up our fabulous look throughout the night. Some say their must-have items are mascara, lip gloss, bobby pins… We’ve compiled the perfect list to help those of you out who just aren’t convinced on what to bring!

We’re seeing clear clutches ALL over the runways right now and we’re really into them. If you have a clear clutch, keep in mind that EVERYTHING you bring must be high fashion! Here are some suggestions from a fellow fashion blog:

01. A small perfume sample – A little goes a long way, so no need to carry a huge bottle around all night!

02. Bobby Pins. Many of you will be rocking up-do’s at Prom, so sneak a few bobby pins in your clutch to fix any unwanted strands from falling!

03. Hairspray & comb – Go to your local drugstore or salon and pick up a travel size hairspray that has extra hold! You never know what to expect with mother nature! This will help you keep your hair in tact during rain storms, humid days or winter weather!

04. Blotting Sheets – A definite must have! You don’t want to have oily skin after dancing in all of your fun Prom photos! You can find these at almost any drugstore around. They come in a flat, small case so they don’t take up any room!

05. Flat Case & Phone – We love flat cases – they hold all of your credit cards and ID’s. Perfect alternative to a wallet! Don’t forget your phone!

06. Compact and Lipstick – Touch up your face before pics and after prom!

07. Safety Pins – We don’t want to jinx you, but you never know what could happen! Carrying safety pins is like insurance!

Who doesn’t love a good nail color? Gone are the days of having to go to the nail salon to get a good manicure. These days, we have everything that we need readily available to us so that we can do our manicures ourselves! Some of the huge trends right now are print nails, metallics and sparkles galore! There are endless ways to incorporate nail polish into your everyday, game day or formal wear look! For a date night look, go for something classic and sweet! Try a pretty Pink or a glamorous Red! Want something more? Grab a toothpick or the end of a pin and draw up an easy heart or leopard design! It’s easier than it looks, we promise!

Have a formal event coming up but don’t want a classic French manicure? Try a hot metallic nail polish! It’s glam and chic without being too over the top and distracting. Our favorite trend is matching your metallic nail polish with your jewelry! Rock that silver and gold!

Another huge hit is glitter nail polish! Layer it on top of a solid color and match the glitter to the base coat for a sweet and pulled together look. If you’re going for a more edgy look, put a black polish down with a multi colored sparkle on top! The outcome will be a super cool rocker chic mani! Everyone needs to be bold every now and then!

Possibilities are endless when it comes to easy, fast and hassle free nails, too. Don’t have the time to paint your nails yourself? We’ve found numerous store-bought options lately! Tons of brands are coming out with stick on nails that last anywhere from a week to two weeks, depending on how rough you are with your hands. They have everything from word prints, leopard spots, aztec patterns, metallic shades of pinks, and even 70′s inspired floral looks! We absolutely love these and recommend them for the girl who just doesn’t have enough time, but still loves the latest trends!
